anti-oxidant

AOmix

AOmix is natural polyphenol-based blends which can be used as anti-oxidants in feeds. What’s more, these natural alternatives deliver top results, thanks to outstanding anti-oxidant bioavailability and distribution characteristics that have been fine-tuned to meet the different digestive system needs of ruminants and monogastrics. This ensures that each species can achieve the optimal anti-oxidant status necessary to maximise fertility, offspring vitality and immune system support.

How Polyphenols Work

a natural antioxidant alternative for vitamin E

Vitamin E is an effective antioxidant that helps to stave off ageing and disease. However, it is also costly considering its low bioavailability. Utilizing natural polyphenols is a beneficial solution to dealing with the problem of oxidative stress. When carefully blended, these can partially replace vitamin E in animal feed. In addition, they also make it possible to boost antioxidant defences beyond the capabilities of vitamin E alone.

Anti-oxidants – the free-radical fighters

All living organisms, including livestock, produce free radicals: unstable molecules that can cause damage to cell membranes, DNA, and, eventually, to the overall health of the immune system and other functions. Clearly, free radicals can have quite a negative impact on technical results. The only way to neutralise them and limit their damage is with anti-oxidants, which animals can only acquire via supplements in their feed. However, in order to ensure an optimal anti-oxidant status, the ingredient must not only have a high anti-oxidant value, it also has to be highly effective in terms of bioavailability and distribution.

Good bioavailability for optimal absorption

The degree to which anti-oxidants in a premix actually become available to an animal depends on how well they are absorbed. This is an important factor, since ruminants and monogastrics have very different types of digestive systems. A supplement that ruminants can optimally digest will be sub-optimally digested by poultry and swine, and vice versa. Even if the anti-oxidant value is high, the
digestibility determines the level to which the anti-oxidants are absorbed and actually become available to the animal’s system.

Because of this, AOmix is available in two different, carefully developed blends – one for ruminants and another for monogastrics – each tailored to their specific digestive systems. This ensures that your feed mixes will offer equally high anti-oxidant bioavailability to all your end-users.

AOmix M

Selko AOmix M is a natural polyphenol-based blend which supports animals against oxidative stress and formation of free radicals. This is particularly important in highly performing animals where AOmix M supports animal
performance and the immune system, fertility, and antioxidant status of their offspring. The components of AOmix M have been selected for their high availability in the digestive systems of monogastric animals. Natural polyphenols in AOmix M range from water soluble to biphasic to fat soluble to ensure optimal antioxidant status in every part of the cellular environment. AOmix M can be used to partially replace other antioxidant ingredients such as Vitamin E causing no differences in production performance.

AOmix R

Selko AOmix R is a natural polyphenol-based blend which supports animals against oxidative stress and formation of free radicals. This is particularly important in highly performing animals where AOmix R supports animal
performance and the immune system, fertility, and antioxidant status of their offspring. The components of AOmix R have been selected for their high availability in the digestive systems of ruminants. Natural polyphenols in AOmix R range from water soluble to biphasic to fat soluble to ensure optimal antioxidant status in every part of the cellular environment.
